The need to put technology transactions on the stock exchange

The need to put technology transactions on the stock exchange

[Tuoi Tre Online] It is necessary to have many synchronous solutions to promote supply and demand, interconnection, towards synchronizing the science and technology market with goods, labor, and finance.
Those are the recommendations made by many experts at the seminar to summarize the 10 years of science and technology market development in the 2011-2020 period by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City held today, April 15.

According to Mr. Tran Van Tung - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, in recent years, the Vietnamese science and technology market has achieved many encouraging results. The increase in the average technology transaction value in the period 2011 - 2020 is 22%.

"It is necessary to make the technology trading transactions in the markets exciting, put it on the stock exchange, buying and selling on the technology exchanges... strongly affect the operation of the business, only then can it become valuable ", Mr. Tung emphasized.

At the seminar, many experts said that despite having achieved some noteworthy results, in reality, the domestic science and technology market has not appropriately developed with the potential of supply and demand because there are still many factors of objective and subjective causes.

The awareness of all levels, sectors and localities about the position and role of the science and technology market in the national innovation system is not sufficient and comprehensive. The legal corridors, mechanisms and policies are not yet synchronous and have not really created a driving force for developing the science and technology market.

Yet, there have been no mechanisms and policies to stimulate scientists and inventors to transfer and commercialize research results and intellectual property. Science and technology organizations emphasize international articles but have not paid attention to inventions and technology transfer and commercialize research results.

In addition, the number of intermediaries is significant, but the consulting, brokerage and promotion capacity is not equal, the connection to share information among intermediaries is fragmented, limited database technical infrastructure, yet to attract the private sector to invest in the construction, administration and operation of technology exchanges, and lack of large-scale organizations capable of leading.

Build science and technology intermediaries in universities
Dr. Do Thi Hai Ninh (University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City) said that science and technology are now considered optimal tools to increase the competitiveness and quality of all types of products and services.
In particular, the transfer of knowledge about the commercialization of science and technology products is one of the prerequisites to promote the knowledge economy and promote the development of science in the country. However, this activity is still relatively new in the Vietnamese market.
To promote the commercialization of science and technology products, it is necessary to build and perfect science and technology centers and intermediaries in universities and research establishments.
"These organizations need to know and be able to evaluate potentials, prospects, valuations and direction, and the ability to do marketing and sell scientific and technological products. At the same time they need to be responsible for training the transfer of knowledge and skills in commercialization to schools and institutes. Synchronizing the above-mentioned solutions can completely promote the rapid and strong development of the science and technology market in Vietnam." said Ms. Ninh.
