From May 23 to 26, 2022, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) hosted the training seminar "Developing and utilize case studies in teaching" within the framework of the JEUL - Erasmus Plus project with the guidance of Professor Desmond Doran (University of Kent, UK). That was an opportunity to improve teaching quality and increase business case study in training program.
On the UEH side, there was Assoc.Prof. Bui Thanh Trang, Vice-Rector of College of Business UEH, Dr. Hoang Hai Yen, Dean of School of Banking - JEUL Erasmus Plus Project Coordinator, Ms. Dang My Dung, JEUL Erasmus Plus Project Secretary, and 25 lecturers from UEH.
On the side of Ho Chi Minh City Banking University (BUH), there was MSc. Luong Thi Thu Thuy, Director of Saigon International Business School, Mr. Le Trung Nhan, Deputy Director of Saigon International Business School. And lecturers from member universities in China and Europe participate online.
At the training seminar, Assoc.Prof. Bui Thanh Trang stated: UEH is honored to be one of the JEUL Capacity Building project - Erasmus Plus partners. The project aims to improve the quality of higher education and enhance the effectiveness of training program to prepare learners to enter the global labor market. After successfully organizing a series of seminars and training sessions on the application of situation simulations in teaching in 2018, UEH is honored to host and welcome Professor Desmond Doran as well as lecturers of member schools in Vietnam, China, and Europe via the hybrid form. UEH hopes that through this training seminar, the university will enhance the practicality, globality, and integration of the training program, help learners learn more effectively; through students will form innovation and creative thinking and enhance other skills during their study at UEH”.
Returning here after the first time UEH hosted a training seminar in 2018, Professor Desmond Doran excitedly shared: “After a long quarantine time because of COVID19 pandemic, I am very honored to be here to share my experience and work with lecturers at UEH. UEH has many modern and spacious changes to meet the innovation requirements, improve the quality of training and scientific research activities".
Through training seminar, par ticipating lecturers have deeper access to case study teaching methods besides other traditional to modern teaching methods. Professor Desmond Doran shares ways to compile modern and interesting case studies for learners. The advantages of this teaching method help learners deepen their knowledge, develop thinking skills, and improve their ability to approach practice, thereby enhancing their adaptability to their future careers.
