UEH and City St George’s, University of London, Launch the “Micro-Credential Pilot Program”

The program is implemented as part of the cooperation framework established following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UEH and City St George’s, University of London in March 2026. It also reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing high-quality human resource development in green finance, ESG, and sustainable development amid the global transition toward a green and low-carbon economy.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. William Lawrenson, Deputy Consul General, British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, together with delegates from City St George’s, University of London: Mr. Matt Bungay - Head of City Apprenticeships Hub and Mrs. Ilona New - Quality Assurance Manager for Apprenticeships.

Representing UEH were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phong Nguyen – Rector of the College of Business; Dr. Nguyen Tan Trung - Head of COB Administration Office; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Nhat Hanh - Standing Vice Dean, School of Management; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Phuong Vy    Vice Dean, School of Finance; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Chung Thuy - Vice Dean, School of Banking, along with representatives of UEH units, academic lecturers from universities in Vietnam, representatives from State Securities Commission, industry experts, partners, and participants of the program.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phong Nguyen emphasized the importance of international collaboration in promoting education for sustainable development and reaffirmed UEH’s commitment to supporting Vietnam in developing high-quality human resources for green transition and global integration. He shared: “Green Finance is not only a global trend but also an urgent requirement for Vietnam’s sustainable development journey. UEH believes that collaboration with prestigious international partners will contribute to developing practical and internationally aligned training programs that create positive impacts for the community and society.”

Mr. William Lawrenson, Deputy Consul General, British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City highly appreciated the collaboration between UEH and City St George’s, University of London in delivering the program in Vietnam, while emphasizing the important role of green finance in advancing sustainable development and supporting the development of international financial centers in Vietnam. The British Consulate-General also reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Vietnam in developing a highly skilled workforce for the future of green finance.

Representing City St George’s, University of London, Professor Sir Anthony Finkelstein, President of the University, expressed his appreciation for the professionalism and strong collaboration demonstrated by UEH throughout the implementation of the program. He emphasized that this is the first Green Finance micro-credential program jointly developed between the United Kingdom and Vietnam, designed to enhance participants’ practical competencies in this emerging field. He also noted that feedback from participants would play an important role in further refining and strengthening the program in the future.

The “Micro-credential Pilot Program” will take place from June 1 to June 8, 2026, featuring two specialized training courses:

  • Micro-credential 1: Applied Green Finance: Project Appraisal, Risk Assessment & Taxonomy Implementation;
  • Micro-credential 2: Green Finance and Applied ESG Integration, Reporting, Assurance, ETS & MRV.

The program focuses on practical topics such as Green Taxonomy implementation, climate and sustainability risk assessment in finance and investment, ESG integration, sustainability reporting, ETS and MRV systems, as well as case-based learning and real-world applications within both Vietnamese and international contexts.

Through this program, participants will have the opportunity to access international best practices, strengthen professional capabilities, and enhance their ability to apply green finance principles in governance, investment, and organizational decision-making processes.

The Opening Ceremony not only marked the beginning of an international training initiative on green finance but also reaffirmed UEH’s strategic direction in promoting educational internationalization, innovation, and sustainable development toward building a responsible knowledge ecosystem that creates value for the community and society.
