UEH congratulates the academic partner ISS-EUR for taking the lead in the Netherlands and ranking 12th in the world according to the QS World Rankings.

The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is pleased and warmly congratulates its reliable academic partner - the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), for outstanding achievements. The 2021 World University Rankings QS recently announced that the ISS Institute of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) ranks 12th in the world and leading the whole Netherlands in the field of Development Studies.
ISS is the International Institute for Social Studies under Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands). The ISS Institute offers training in Master and Doctoral programs and conducts research in four main areas: Inequality and social protection; conflict and peace; migration and diversity; environment and climate change.

The ISS Institute is a long-standing academic partner of UEH. Since 1994, within the framework of the Educational Cooperation Project between the governments of Vietnam and the Netherlands, the Vietnam-Netherlands Master's Degree Program (VNP) was born, operated by Erasmus University Rotterdam and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh. During 27 years of close cooperation, ISS-EUR and UEH have successfully trained many generations of students in many fields, providing high-quality human resources for the labor market in Vietnam and on a global scale. Many alumni are currently holding senior positions in state apparatus, governmental organizations, financial institutions, domestic and foreign enterprises and universities.

The Presidents of UEH and ISS-EUR signed a Doctoral training cooperation agreement (January 20, 2019).
The cooperation between ISS-EUR and UEH can be generalized by the concept "Trust". Understanding and putting full trust in both sides’ efforts and the academic quality has helped the cooperation boat go through many turbulence. After the first eight years of funding from the Dutch government, since 2003, UEH has run the program with tuition fees and ISS-EUR has played the role of ensuring the training quality. The two universities continue to exchange lecturers, students and transfer knowledge in the field of economic development.

The trust was raised to new heights when in 2017, ISS-EUR and UEH introduced the Double Degree program. Students who study 18 months at UEH and 6 months at ISS-EUR can get 02 different degrees: Master of Applied Economics and Master of Development Studies. Time spent studying at UEH is considered equivalent to studying time at ISS-EUR; and with 6 months of study at ISS-EUR, learners can receive the most prestigious Master of Development Research in the Netherlands, ranked 12th in the world.

In 2019, UEH and ISS-EUR opened the Joint Doctorate Program (JDP). This is the first doctoral program in Vietnam that is entirely free of tuition fees for successful research students, by Erasmus University Rotterdam. With the rigorous standard of doctoral training, Erasmus University Rotterdam's recognition of the equivalent study and research time at UEH is a testament to its trust in the university's academic maturity.

The high achievement in the QS Ranking of ISS-EUR is also the pride and honor of UEH. With a reputable and reliable academic partner, it is hoped that the joint training and research programs between UEH and ISS-EUR will develop in a sustainable manner, contributing to the development and knowledge dissemination.
