UEH empowers women for sustainable development through non-discriminatory and comprehensive welfare policies

UEH is committed to promoting gender equality and empowering women for a sustainable future. Through comprehensive recruitment, maternity, and welfare policies, UEH creates an equitable working environment that supports underrepresented groups, especially women. These efforts not only develop a high-quality workforce but also foster a diverse academic community where every individual has the opportunity to grow and make a positive contribution to societal development.

UEH is a leading university in Vietnam that has long formed a positive mindset about gender equality and implemented many critical strategies to strengthen the empowerment of UEH women. The Committee for the Advancement of Women in 2023 has performed well in its task of advising the President on specific solutions to strengthen training, fostering, and promoting the role of female officials at UEH. A bright and sustainable future for UEH and society must first promote equality, especially gender equality. At UEH, the role of each female employee is extremely important, contributing significantly to the development of UEH.

Based on the survey results on the advancement of women and gender equality according to the goals and targets in Decision No. 383/QD-BGDDT, UEH has exceeded the targets in many criteria such as:

  1. The proportion of female civil servants and public employees in the planning of leadership and management positions of units who have been trained and trained to improve their capacity reached 94% (higher than the set target of 75%). UEH Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership.
  2. The target of the proportion of female masters in the total number of civil servants and public employees with master's degrees reached 54% (higher than the target of 50%).
UEH always creates more conditions and opportunities for female officials to demonstrate and promote their capacity. At the same time, UEH focuses on promoting training and fostering for female officials to improve their qualifications, capacity, and skills according to the requirements of the job position. Gender equality at UEH is not only in research, training, academic activities... but also in cultural, sports and artistic activities.
 
Regarding to reproductive health, in addition to the diaper allowance as prescribed, female employees at UEH are entitled to 100% of their salary and additional income during maternity leave as prescribed. In addition, female employees are also entitled to 1 hour off per working day while raising children under 12 months as prescribed.
 
At UEH, gender equality is not only in research, academia and work. Gender equality is also understood with the concept of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). In the field of culture, sports and arts, gender equality also breaks down barriers, breaks down stereotypes and honors the abilities of female participants, honoring the contributions of women in all areas of activity at UEH.

In addition, UEH implements a number of support policies on accommodations for employees to work with peace of mind. Specifically, UEH Hotel is a "Knowledge Hotel" with many amenities serving and supporting experts, scientists, and lecturers staying during their work. In order to create favorable conditions for scientists, researchers, lecturers, and students, UEH Hotel offers many preferential policies to serve the activities of these subjects:
  1. Support 100% of accommodation costs for employees, lecturers, and working delegations of UEH Branches when on business trips to Ho Chi Minh City;
  2. Support 20% of accommodation costs for employees, workers, and students of UEH when staying to study and conduct scientific research.
UEH Branch in Vinh Long similarly supports housing policies for civil servants. UEH arranges dormitories for civil servants and employees working at the Branch. Here, it provides full facilities for civil servants and employees to work, rest, study and research. In addition, the dormitory is geographically close to the teaching and working facilities of the Branch, helping civil servants and employees save on travel costs, while minimizing personal vehicles, contributing to communicating the message of environmental protection. At the same time, for civil servants and employees who need to stay at other locations besides the dormitory, UEH Vinh Long branch supports accommodation costs of 1,500,000 VND/month for each civil servant and employee, with the aim of supporting and motivating civil servants and employees to work with peace of mind.
