Overview of the press conference

In becoming a high-quality, practical and global educational institution, along with complete autonomy regarding academia, research, and financial independence, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City formally announces the opening of 3 new research centers/institutes whose missions revolve around providing top-notch knowledge and resources while acting as a bridge between students - researchers - management to create a well-oiled machine working hand-in-hand against challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 on the basis of Smart Technologies to reach a more Sustainable future. 

 

The underlying theme “From Smart to Sustainable” and the launch play an important role in the University’s work of community building, which includes establishing a conducive learning/researching environment, offering professional consultations regarding FINTECH, evaluating the impact of technology on all social aspects, along with resolving rising issues pertaining to urban development, food security, so as to strive for a smart and sustainable living space and conditions. 

 

Professor Nguyen Dong Phong - UEH President stated, “The newly-instated institutions of UEH were established in accordance to the University’s long-term development plan to become a multidisciplinary, research-oriented institution, with a strong mission statement on integrating management and economics directly into other fields. The most significant impact factor UEH hopes to achieve is that, with the aid of these 3 centers, the University can begin to form more meaningful networks with relevant stakeholders, continue providing insightful knowledge and high-quality resources to meet societal demands. Additionally, the University also promises to improve its academic and research reputation through professional economic consultation to help resolve social issues and play its role as a useful contributing member.” 

 

The 3 research centers are held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Financial Technology Institute - FTI: to conduct research, provide training, resources and implementation of FINTECH technologies

  • Institute of Smart City and Management - ISCM: to act as a smart partner and bridge to all relevant stakeholders, propose and execute strategies to address and resolve all urban planning issues

  • Institute of Smart City and Management - ISCM, and Health and Agricultural Policy Research Institute - HAPRI: to develop further studies and improve on current socio-economic policies (especially agriculture-related), attract international collaboration to enhance research capabilities, and carry out technology transformation and training support. 


Overview of the press conference 

Through this press conference, UEH once again wants to reiterate its commitment to fulfilling societal demands through maintaining and sustaining a high-quality education system while claiming its presence internationally. At the same time, the University hopes to become a key university in the region, an ideal destination for many international students while living up to the goals of being a practical and global educational institution
