UEH opening the training program "Skills to ensure information security in the process of taking care of electricity customers"

On June 10, 2024, the Technology and Design Training Center, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) in coordination with the Customer Care Center of Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation opened the training program "Skills to ensure information security during the process of taking care of electricity customers". The program is part of the efforts of both sides when the risk of information insecurity is one of the serious problems for businesses today.

Attending the opening ceremony, on behalf of UEH, there was the participation of Dr. Thai Kim Phung - Vice Principal of UEH College of Technology and Design, Director of UEH Technology and Design Training Center.

On behalf of Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation, there was Mr. Phan Hoang San - Director of the Customer Care Center, and 400 learners from Department managers and individuals involved in electricity customer care at affiliated units.

In the context of increasingly developing information technology, information security becomes a key factor in maintaining customer trust and protecting the image of the business. This training course is designed to improve the awareness and skills of electricity employees in protecting customers' personal information while ensuring information security throughout the service provision process.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Thai Kim Phung - Vice Principal of UEH College of Technology and Design, Director of UEH Technology and Design Training Center - delivered a speech affirming the importance of ensuring information security in the current digital age. He emphasized: "Information security is not only the responsibility of IT experts but also the duty of all employees in the organization. We hope that this course will equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively protect customer information.”

With this training program, learners will learn the basic principles of information security, risks and challenges in securing customer information, technical and organizational measures to ensure information security and security incident handling procedures. Besides theory, the participating students also practice and apply information security skills in real situations.

In the morning of the same day, Dr. Nguyen Manh Tuan - the training instructor - pointed out the causes of information insecurity, the risks caused by information insecurity, and demonstrated a visual and vivid simulation of common attack cases by hackers, how hackers steal personal data and fake it to commit fraud listed as demoing how hackers use fake links to take over accounts, attacking DoS to make the system unable to handle it, deepfaking voice, face and taking advantage of machine learning to insert fake links to suggest customers and so on.

Students participating in the course all expressed their excitement and expectations to apply new knowledge to their daily work, together building a safe working environment and protecting the rights of customers in the best way. The opening ceremony took place in an atmosphere of excitement and determination for all students. The course is expected to take place within two weeks, with theory sessions interspersed with practice, ensuring students can grasp and effectively apply the knowledge they have learned.
