From April 9 to 19, 2025, a delegation from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung, Vice President of UEH, completed a successful mission to the United Kingdom. The main objective of the trip was to strengthen cooperation with the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK and promote comprehensive partnerships with prestigious academic institutions including London South Bank University, Bournemouth University, University of Leicester, and University of Lincoln.
The delegation visited and held discussions with His Excellency Ambassador Do Minh Hung - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, concurrently accredited to Ireland, and Director of the Europe Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On behalf of UEH, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung congratulated the Ambassador and the entire staff of the diplomatic mission on their outstanding diplomatic achievements in recent times. Both sides discussed supporting UEH faculty and students with opportunities to study and exchange in the UK through Vietnamese Government scholarship programs under Project 89, the UEH scholar exchange program, as well as cooperation and information exchange with Vietnamese professional and intellectual associations in the UK. The Ambassador also suggested areas where UEH could promote cooperation with UK universities related to human resource training and organizing seminars related to the Government's project on building an International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City.

Within the framework of the mission, UEH met and discussed cooperation initiatives with other universities in the United Kingdom, including London South Bank University, Bournemouth University, University of Leicester, and University of Lincoln.
Specifically, the UEH delegation worked with London South Bank University (LSBU) to enhance academic and research cooperation. The two sides exchanged information about the ongoing joint international project between the two institutions: "Empowering Change: A Comprehensive Approach to Climate Action, Sustainable Development, and Behavioral Transformation among Female Scholars in Ho Chi Minh City." This project aims to provide comprehensive training on climate change and sustainable development for female scholars in Ho Chi Minh City. The meeting opened up numerous prospects for strategic cooperation related to benchmarking training programs, student and faculty exchanges, strategies for incorporating sustainability content into training programs, and collaboration in operating VR and VX Studio facilities.

At the meeting with Bournemouth University, building on the success of their collaboration on the "SOARING - digital transformation in Vietnamese higher education" project, which aims to empower Vietnamese universities to effectively integrate digital activities to enhance learning, teaching, and management quality, both sides agreed and proceeded to sign a Memorandum of Understanding focusing on: cooperation in educational management, exchange of academic information, international student exchange programs, joint research activities, seminars, conferences, and other collaborative activities to strengthen bilateral Vietnam-UK relations.
The signing of the cooperation memorandum between the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and Bournemouth University marks an important milestone in educational and academic research coordination between the two institutions. In the future, UEH and Bournemouth University will successfully implement the agreed cooperation activities, not only contributing to creating international educational, research, and human resource training opportunities but also promoting cultural exchange and further cultivating friendship and expanding cooperation with universities between Vietnam and the United Kingdom.

During the meeting with the University of Leicester, both sides exchanged ideas across many fields such as joint training, student-faculty exchanges, and scientific research. Through the cooperation program, UEH students will have opportunities to participate in international training programs, study in English, or transfer to Leicester to receive international degrees. Simultaneously, both institutions will collaborate to organize academic seminars and promote joint research projects, contributing to enhancing teaching quality.

The UEH delegation also had an official meeting with the University of Lincoln in a friendly, open, and highly constructive atmosphere. Both sides presented overviews of their development orientations, strengths in training and research, as well as internationalization activities in education. They also reviewed and evaluated ongoing and completed collaborative initiatives, while discussing potential cooperation in other areas such as:
+ Developing joint undergraduate and postgraduate training programs;
+ Faculty capacity development exchange programs;
+ Collaboration in scientific research and organizing international conferences;
+ Developing English language proficiency and international integration for students.
Representatives from the University of Lincoln expressed particular interest in UEH's multidisciplinary strategy and research university orientation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung emphasized that 2025 marks the anniversary of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United Kingdom in education, science, and technology, with many achievements in their cooperation process. This visit to the United Kingdom has contributed to expanding UEH's international cooperation network while creating more learning and development opportunities for students and faculty in a global educational environment, adding substance to the construction of the UEH Global Hub in the coming period.
