In recent years, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has continuously implemented policies aimed at providing essential services to enhance the quality of life, health, and mental well-being for its students and the surrounding community.

Ready at all times - UEH provides timely support to all students

UEH is committed to ensuring that students have access to health insurance and accident coverage, with 26,674 students fully enrolled in health insurance. In 2023, 715 students utilized health services, including check-ups, medication, first aid, and health consultations at the campus health station.

At UEH, the implementation of health and accident insurance is of special concern with 26,674 students fully participating in health insurance. In 2023, up to 715 students received medical examinations, medicine, first aid and health consultation at the Medical Station (See more in a notice from the DSA informing students of the services available: https://dsa.ueh.edu.vn/tin-tuc/thong-bao-ve-viec-thong-tin-the-bhyt-tren-portal-sinh-vien-ueh/).

Recognizing the challenges faced by new students during their transition, UEH's Student Volunteer Support Team launched the "Back to School Campaign 2023" campaign to provide an optimal learning experience and assist students in their academic and personal endeavors. This initiative addresses various concerns for new students through four main activities: (1) support for student housing consultations; (2) a welcome week for new students; (3) a communications campaign to greet new students; and (4) a series of accompanying activities to support new students on their journey.

UEH also implements special support policies for students with disabilities and those facing unexpected circumstances, aiming to enhance their learning experience and quality of life. In 2023, UEH's initiatives for students with disabilities benefited 11 individuals, promoting a culture of care and compassion within the UEH community and beyond. These initiatives include tuition assistance, scholarships, provision of learning materials, specialized facilities, health and mental support, special gifts, housing, transportation, and employment opportunities. Inspirational stories from students with disabilities have been shared to raise community awareness and create an inclusive environment (See more at https://dsa.ueh.edu.vn/tin-tuc/hanh-trinh-chinh-phuc-uoc-mo-giang-duong-bang-niem-tin-va-nghi-luc-phi-thuong/).

Encouraging Volunteerism for a Healthier Community

UEH aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the community, actively promoting volunteerism among students. The university connects and establishes support teams for patients at local hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, as detailed in the Student Union activities report for the 2023-2024 academic year (see article). Additionally, the annual Volunteer Blood Donation Week is a traditional event at UEH, engaging faculty, staff, and students in meaningful contributions that embody the core values of "solidarity and mutual support" within the UEH culture.

Improving Living Standards in Remote Areas

In Mang Thít, Vĩnh Long, UEH contributes to the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta region through the 2023 Student Volunteer Economics Campaign, which focuses on infrastructure projects such as repairing and constructing roads, streetlights, shelters, and sports facilities. The campaign aims to improve environmental quality and share innovative knowledge with local communities, with a total estimated budget of nearly 2.31 billion VND for projects in seven communes. These initiatives have significantly enhanced local infrastructure, facilitating transportation, improving economic efficiency, and raising the standard of living and education for residents.
