UEH Retired Teachers' Meeting in early 2021: Towards 45 years - Pride and Development

On the occasion of the beginning of 2021 and towards the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the university, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) organized an close-knit meeting for retired Teachers to create opportunities for Teachers to meet and visit new UEH's new campuses which have just been put into operation in the past year. Through the program, the current Board of Leaders of the university also informs retired Teachers about the university's achievements in 2020 and the activities implemented in 2021 towards the 45th anniversary of the university's establishment, as well as plans to restructure UEH in the coming time.

The program took place on the morning of March 24, 2021, with the participation of nearly 200 retired Teachers. A unique feature of this year's meeting program is that in addition to returning to Campus A - Nguyen Dinh Chieu, the campus that has been a companion with our beloved Teachers during the past time, they also join the journey to sightsee the modern study and working space in the 15-storey building of Campus B - Nguyen Tri Phuong; Experience the green space at the Campus N - Nguyen Van Linh Campus with the most modern 11-hectare model of UEH. Here, Teachers visit the large square, the hall, office room, classrooms, smart library, self-study area, other facilities for students and lecturers of the campus and the lecture hall. In particular, the Teachers also visit the nursery garden and participate in the seeding and planting in the series of greening activities UEH - Nguyen Van Linh.

Many retired Teachers, even though they are seniors, are still very enthusiastic about planting trees with the desire to create shade for generations to come and hope that students will continue to cultivate and promote what the Teachers have built. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dao Van Tai - Former Vice Principal of UEH, with a robust physique, is now over 90 years old but enthusiastically visits from the campus to the lecture hall and participates in planting fruit trees. He optimistically shared: “I thank the university for creating conditions for retired Teachers to visit the new campus. Coming here, I find the campus very spacious and beautiful. Having been like this, I think the future leaders of the university have many good ideas in finding conditions to develop the university on a large scale, creating conditions for students to have a good place to study and a good workplace for teachers. I think this is the result of a process of incubating the idea of developing a modern university, in addition to training according to the curriculum from developed countries in the world, the fact that the teaching facilities also develop in this direction is very encouraging. I am very excited and delighted to have a chance to visit the university. I hope that this facility does not stop there, but it will become better and better in the direction of modernity and catch up with other countries in the world."

At the end of the tour, the Teachers attended the meeting program at hall B1.302. The program was honored to welcome former UEH leaders at all times: Assoc.Prof.Dr Dao Van Tai - Former Vice Principal; Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Xuong - Former Vice Principal; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quoc Te - Former Secretary of the Party Committee, Former Chairman of the University Council, Former Vice Principal; Elite Teacher Nguyen Van Te - Former Deputy Secretary of Party Committee.

On the side of the incumbent leaders of UEH, there are Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President; Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Vice President, Director of UEH Vinh Long Campus; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of UEH Advisory Council; Dr. Bui Quang Viet - Chairman of University union, and teachers, university union executive committee, and Head of UEH's affiliated units.

Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - UEH President reported the achievements of UEH in 2020 and the university's pivotal plans for 2021, as well as activities towards the 45th anniversary of the university's establishment.

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council, shared his gratitude and appreciation to the former generations of Teachers to have UEH today and make more efforts to make the university more developed. He shared the orientation of school restructuring, establishing 03 schools in the coming time. With a 45-year history, the UEH brand is increasingly asserted; facilities are adequate and convenient; a faculty of highly specialized officials; strong international cooperation, is a condition for a successful university restructuring, and we hope that our Teachers will continue to support the university's development in the coming time.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of excitement and warm affection between the Teachers of different university generations. The joy, excitement, bustle, and pride in every gaze of our Teachers can be seen when seeing today's UEH change its skin and reach new heights. A warm, close affection can be seen in each handshake, each shoulder pat, and each warm smile between Teachers of different generations, as shared by Ms. Quach Thi Buu Chau - Former lecturer of the UEH School of International Business - Marketing: "I realize that there is no better place that take care of retired teachers as UEH does". Respect the seniors, love each other is always a feature of UEH's Culture.
