UEH University Council's eighth session meeting for the 2020-2025 term
On the morning of September 8th, 2022, at the room A.205, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held the eighth meeting of the University Council for the 2020 - 2025 term with the in-person and online participation of 25/25 members, officially approving important contents in the development strategy of UEH in the upcoming period.
Overview of the session
Speaking at the opening session, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the UEH University Council - emphasized: "In the past period, UEH has developed in accordance with the set strategic goals. For example, the enrollment of all levels/modes this year has achieved good results from undergraduate, graduate, to doctoral programs; UEH University’s brand has gained the trust of society; Scientific research activities have been completed in accordance with the general progress, and especially the number of articles published internationally in prestigious journals listed as ISI, Scopus, ABC, etc. has reached over 360 articles so far. Also, the number of articles has increased. The number of international publications each year has been in the right direction for the University in recent years. As of September this year, UEH has had 3 important international conferences completed and resonated with domestic and international markets. We have completed the FIBAA accreditation of training programs and institutions. Management activities gradually became methodical and stable, and restructuring activities to become a University with 3 member colleges are receiving very good signals from the direct leadership agencies. In addition to the results achieved, we still have to continue to improve the quality of training, internationalize the university, perfect our University governance model, and enhance UEH University’s contribution to the development of the country and the economic regions where we are located. With this in mind, we hope that today’s meeting will receive comments from members, helping UEH develop in accordance with the set strategy.”

Within the framework of the meeting, the members, in turn, presented:
- Reports on the activities of the Standing University Council between the 7th and 8th sessions;
- Proposals on the policy and plans for the implementation of the process of appointing the position of Vice President of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City for the 2020 - 2025 term;
- Proposals on the establishment of the Institute for Research and Consulting for Regional Development on the basis of merging the UEH Institute of Development Economics Research and the Institute of Public Policy;
- Proposals on the policy of opening an undergraduate training program in the direction of integrating economics, business, and technology;
- Applications for granting scholarships (50% tuition waiver) for students of advanced public policy master classes opening to localities;
- Along with some other management contents.

After hours of working and a responsible discussion, the members of the University Council voted unanimously to approve all the contents of this meeting. Therefore, the 8th meeting of the UEH University Council for the 2020-2025 term took place successfully, highly unifying the important contents for the UEH development strategy in the upcoming time.
