UII collaboratively organizing a series of Startup and Innovation Training Programs and Exchange Programs between UEH Vinh Long Campus’s students and Singapore Management University’s students (SMU) at Vinh Long Campus

Innovative Startup Incubator - UII (UEH) collaborated with UEH - Vinh Long Campus (VLC) to organize the Program "Innovation startup training and exchange between VLC students and Singapore Management University’s students (SMU)”. The program aimed to provide knowledge about the role and importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in modern society and to nurture and inspire the young generation in the spirit of innovative entrepreneurship, in addition to promoting the spirit of exchange, learning, and international connection for UEH VLC students.

The series of Startup and Innovation Training Programs and the Exchange Program between VLC students and Singapore Management University’s students (SMU) at Vinh Long Campus was one of the activities to prepare for the establishment of the Mekong Incubator of UEH - VLC as well as building a foundation for the selection of projects to participate in incubation at the Mekong Incubator.

Attending the program, UEH Vinh Long Campus had MSc. Nguyen Thi Thy Lieu - Standing Deputy Director of VLC. In terms of UEH Institute of Innovation, there was the presence of MSc. Vuong Khiet - Director of UII Incubator; MSc. Tran Nhat Hoang - Mekong Incubator Program Manager; PhD student Huynh Ngoc Quang Anh - Lecturer at UEH Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technologies along with more than 70 VLC students who are passionate with starting a business at Vinh Long Campus and members of incubation projects in the Mekong Delta.

A group of students from Singapore Management University (SMU) who are interns came to Vietnam to practice and experience. At the exchange and sharing activities, Vinh Long Campus’s students introduced SMU students to the culture and people in Vinh Long and the Mekong Delta. Concurrently, during the exchange program, SMU students with some experiences from entrepreneurship activities among students in Singapore shared with students of Vinh Long Campus about entrepreneurship. With the exchange activities with students, UEH Vinh Long Campus’s entrepreneurship training activities have been richer and more diverse.

The training program took place over 2 days, and the students at Vinh Long Campus had access to knowledge concerning Innovation and Entrepreneurship:

Phase 1: Basic training and practicing program – June 3rd, 2022

  • Understanding and distinguishing the difference between Entrepreneurship and Innovation Startup.
  • How to form an innovative startup idea to express it through the Value proposition Canvas.

Some activities in the training program

Phase 2: Advanced training and practicing program – July 5th, 2022

  • Equipping necessary skills for participating in innovative startup idea contests, and beyond, practical implementation, as well as calling for investment and support.
  • Applying knowledge of Business Model Canvas Canvas, clarifying the Business Model of the current idea.
  • Testing and developing business ideas/models.

 

Students presented their ideas at the training program

During the training session, the students were divided into groups and performed many useful group activities to help create positive interaction for the training program and also discovered some new and good ideas of the students.

At the end of the meaningful training program, the Mekong Incubator's reporters partly answered the questions and concerns of the students as well as spread the entrepreneurial spirit of innovation to the students of Vinh Long Campus which is one of the prerequisites for them to motivate their cherished dreams and ambitions and fuel the fire of creativity in the community. This was also an opportunity for UEH students of Vinh Long Campus to complete their startup ideas and projects to participate in the Startup Project Initiative Contest organized by this Campus and Vinh Long Province intentionally in August 2022.
