University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and Sunwah Group cooperate comprehensively on global innovation activities.

With the goal of "Improving quality, Practical attachment, Reaching International Level”, in the framework of the program "Connecting communities, spreading knowledge", on the afternoon of January 15th, 2021, at campus V (232/6 Vo Thi Sau), University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and Sunwah Group held a signing ceremony for comprehensive cooperation on global innovation activities.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that innovation is the key to Vietnam's success and plays an important role in the socio-economic development strategies of most countries and territories. With the rapid development of the fourth industrial revolution, the country must quickly adapt and take firm steps to implement the plan.

In the long-term development strategy, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) always focuses on connecting the development of practical application research capacity, startup ecosystem, innovation, and smart management. To implement specific practical activities and develop international networks, UEH has cooperated with Sunwah Group and Sunwah Innovations Center. 

Attending the signing ceremony, on the side of Sunwah Group was Mr. Jesse Choi - General Director of Sunwah Vietnam, CEO of Sunwah Innovations Center; Ms. Katie Nguyen - Deputy Director of Sunwah Innovations; and Ms. Ho Thanh Thuy - Head of International Cooperation Department of Sunwah Innovations Innovation Center. On the UEH side, there is Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President; Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao - Deputy Head of Scientific Management - International Cooperation; MSc. Huynh Phuoc Nghia, Deputy Director of the Institute of Innovation and MSc. Trinh Tu Anh - Director of The Institute of Smart Cities and Management.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – President of UEH, emphasized: "With the strategy of internationalizing university education activities, our partnership with Sunwah Group will help UEH continue to expand its network in Asia, to train students with global citizenship skills through internship programs at multinational companies, develop research projects in new areas such as smart cities, innovation, and technology governance"

Mr. Jesse Choi - CEO of Sunwah Vietnam, CEO of Sunwah Innovations Center, expressed his joy and desire for cooperation between the two units to be promoted into practice. Sunwah Vietnam will work with UEH to develop a strong startup and innovation ecosystem.

At the meeting, the Institute of Innovation and the Institute of Smart Cities and Management introduced an overview of activities in the field of innovation and presented specific action plans that could be implemented in the coordination between UEH and Sunwah Group in 2021. The two units exchanged and signed a cooperation agreement on developing international innovation networks; exchange of consultants in business development and investment activities; co-organizes international training, events, and exchanges; support innovative start-ups of both units.

At the end of the signing ceremony, Sunwah Group representatives participated in technology and art space experience during SMARTCITY+ ArtTech Fusion Week. Then, Ms. Katie Nguyen - Deputy Director of Sunwah Innovations Center, had time to exchange and share with the UEH startup community in Talk: From START to UP organized by UEH Innovation Institute Incubator.
