On the afternoon of May 9, 2023, the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation between the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and Deakin University, Australia took place successfully.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), Ms. Rebecca Ball - Senior Trade and Investment Counselor, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), Mr. John Molony - Vice Chancellor and Deputy Director of the International Program, Deakin University, Australia, Prof. Wei Shen - Deakin Global Partnership Manager with representatives of Austrade’'s Board of Directors, Deakin University, UEH and ISB.

Opening the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) - expressed his excitement to cooperate with Deakin University - the Ttop 1% in the world. In the future, UEH will work with Deakin University to promote research and creative activities for Deakin Global Pathways students.

Agreeing with the above view, Mr. John Molony statedaid that the signing ceremony was an important milestone marking the long-term cooperation journey between Deakin University and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. John Molony informed that there are more than 16,000 international students studying there, in which, Vietnam is one of the four most essential partners of Deakin University. He also wanted aimed to create more opportunities for native Australian students and international students to participate in exchange programs in Vietnam. In particular, Mr. John Molony gave many compliments to Vietnamese students They hadwith good preparation in terms of knowledge and skills., so whenUpon studying at the school, many of youthese students have achieved good results and certain successes in personalyour career.

Also at the ceremony, Ms. Rebecca Ball emphasized that the field of education has been the foundation of the 50-year cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Australia. The Austrade representative also expected that there would be more links to training and education programs similar to those being implemented at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City to expand opportunities to access international education for Vietnamese students.

Optimizing studying abroad with Deakin Global Pathways

At the ceremony, the two sides agreed to sign a cooperation agreement to optimize the study abroad route for students through the Deakin Global Pathways Pprogram. This is a direct admission program for Bachelor’'s degree programs designed by Deakin University, with a main route of 1+2 (1 year of study in Vietnam, 2 years of study transfer awarded a degree at Deakin University, Australia).

Deakin University is currently in the top 1% of the Bbest Uuniversities in the world (according to ARWU 2022). In addition, the university is also ranked in the Ttop 42 Bbest Yyoung Uuniversities in the world (Times Higher Education Young University Rankings, 2022) and has been a leader in Victoria for 13 consecutive years in terms of learning experience and post-graduate satisfaction. Therefore, with this cooperation, Global Pathways students will have more majors and study abroad options when they have an orientation to conquer Australia in the future.

Participating in Deakin Global Pathways, students have 1 year to build their background knowledge and hone skills in Vietnam. Knowledge at this stage is the foundation for yourtheir advanced studies when transitioning to Australia. Soft skills suchlisted as teamwork, public speaking, critical thinking, etc. will also be cultivated. Besides, Deakin University offers scholarships worth ranging from 20%, 25%, 50% and 100% for students.
