US Secretary of State John Kerry mets with FEPT for an exchange of view

In December 14, 2013, in framework of the first visiting to Vietnam, as an US Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry had a meeting for a view exchange with FETP at Diamond Plaza. Presence at the meeting were Mr. David B. Shear – US Ambassador in Vietnam; Ms. Rena Bitter – US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. T. Vallely– Former Director and Mr. B. Wilkinson – Director of Vietnam Program at Harvard University; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong – President of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), Head of FETP Executive Board; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh – Director of FETP; and some lecturers and FETP alumni.

US Secretary of State J. Kerry was reported on success which FETP has got since 1995, current jobs of FETP’s alumni, FETP’s current training activities, its position and role in transition and development of Vietnam. He affirmed that the US side considered the FETP as one of the most successful programs so far, a successful proof in educational cooperation between Vietnam and US. The Program is a cooperation outcome between the UEH and Harvard Kennedy School of Government. The Program budget has mainly been funded by the Department of Education and Culture, US Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his speech to media and businessmen after the meeting, US Secretary of State J. Kerry told that he would propose the possibility of establishing Fulbright University Viet Nam on the basis of FETP in the recent future.
