In order to elp and create opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to continue their study dreams, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has introduced financial aid policies for students along with funding programs organized by businesses and UEH alumni, and encouraged students to register for scholarships other than UEH.
Focusing on three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—providing opportunities for students from various backgrounds (SDG1), building fair access to education and motivating students to achieve (SDG4), and fostering community connections in support of education (SDG17)—the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has implemented extensive financial aid policies. In 2023 alone, UEH provided over 10 billion VND in support to students in need.
Tuition and living expenses can be significant burdens for students and their families, especially over the 3.5-year academic journey. Understanding these challenges, UEH has developed a range of financial policies, including:
These efforts aim to ensure that 80% of students from disadvantaged backgrounds graduate with stable employment, benefiting both the community and society.
The Academic Support Scholarship is designed to help students from difficult backgrounds who strive for academic success. This scholarship is available twice yearly for undergraduate students with an academic average of Fair or higher and no disciplinary record. In 2023, the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) awarded 1,097 scholarships, totaling nearly 7.5 billion VND.
“Wings of Dreams” - Corporate Sponsorship Scholarship, part of UEH's Talent Nurturing program, offers students facing hardships the opportunity to complete their education. With support from individual, corporate, and organizational partners, UEH awarded 238 scholarships worth 2.5 billion VND in 2023, covering various expenses such as tuition and living costs, providing vital encouragement for students.
Beyond scholarships, UEH’s Student Credit Program facilitates educational loans for students with limited financial means
Aiming to mobilize external resources for study credit activities, the "UEH Study Credit" 2023 program has successfully facilitated student loans at the lowest interest rates, featuring simple application procedures and a diverse range of banking products while minimizing risks associated with partner banks. This initiative has successfully disbursed 44 loan applications, totaling VND 636,542,220 in tuition loans.
At the same time, UEH also issued 2,295 loan documents for students who register through the Electronic Transaction Portal and need to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank.
Through its comprehensive financial aid policies, UEH aims to help students complete their studies successfully, preparing them to become global citizens.
In a commitment to social responsibility and nurturing future generations, the UEH GOLF TOURNAMENT - SWING FOR FUTURE 2023 was successfully organized by the UEH Alumni Golf Club on April 6. This event raised over 1.2 billion VND, contributing to the Talent Nurturing Scholarship Fund for students at UEH who face challenging circumstances. The fund aims to empower these students to enhance their knowledge and skills, thereby contributing to societal development.
The Football Tournament for Raising the Scholarship Fund for Students Overcoming Difficulties 2023 also aimed to create a healthy environment for UEH staff, employees, officials, lecturers, and partner businesses. This event not only promoted physical well-being but also facilitated exchanges and collaboration among the community, emphasizing sustainable development and nurturing future intellectuals.

On January 8, 2023, UEH and VietHope Inc. held a scholarship award ceremony for the VietHope Student Development Program (VSDP), benefiting 95 disadvantaged students. Among them, 11 K48 students and 9 K47 students from UEH were honored with scholarships, providing essential support for their educational journeys and nurturing future talent.

Beyond scholarship opportunities, UEH also supports dormitory accommodations for disadvantaged students, offering them cost-effective living arrangements that ensure security and convenience. In 2023, 56 disadvantaged students received assistance moving into dormitories, with a monthly discount of 300,000 VND for policy beneficiaries.
Furthermore, the UEH Shuttle bus service was subsidized to facilitate student transportation, with fares set at just 5,000 VND per trip. The service recorded 53,526 registrations in 2023, demonstrating its importance to the student community.
In an effort to enhance students' skill sets, UEH organized a series of 25 soft skills classes and 12 free language seminars, certifying over 1,000 students in 2023. This initiative aims to empower students by improving their soft skills and English proficiency, enhancing their future educational and career opportunities.
The scholarship funds and comprehensive support programs at UEH serve as a vital foundation, enabling disadvantaged students to pursue their studies confidently and affirming the university's commitment to a sustainable multidisciplinary model.
