Closing Ceremony of the Fostering Program for Leaders and Managers Having Skills to Work in International Environments in Kien Giang Province in 2023-2024

On the afternoon of January 20 and 27, 2024, at Kien Giang Province Political School, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) coordinated with the Organizing Committee of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee and the Kien Giang Provincial Kien Giang Province Political School to solemnly organize the Closing Ceremony of the "Fostering Program for Leaders and Managers Having Skills to Work in International Environments in Kien Giang in 2023-2024" with the theme "Improving leadership and management capacity to promote competitiveness and sustainable development for localities in the context of global economic integration ” for the 1^st and 2^nd Class.

Attending the Closing Ceremony, on behalf of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, there were Mr. Mai Hoang Khoi - Provincial Party Committee member, Standing Deputy Head of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thong - Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Kien Giang province; Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong - Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Lam Van Sen - Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee; and Mr. Huynh Xuan Luat - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Kien Giang province.

On behalf of the Kien Giang Province Political School, there was Ms. Pham Thi Thom - Vice Principal of Kien Giang Province Political School; Dr. Pham Van Quang - Deputy Head of the Department of Training Management & Scientific Research. On behalf of UEH's, there was the presence of Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Director of UEH and Director of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Deputy Director of UEH; and Dr. Nguyen Kim Duc - Deputy Director of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting; with the presence of learners from the 1^st and 2^nd Class, who are leaders and managers at Departments, Divisions, and Unions of Districts and Cities at Kien Giang province.

Overview of the Closing Ceremony for the 2nd Class

At the Closing Ceremony, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Deputy Director of UEH - summarized the training process through the results of collecting student opinions on class organization, program content, teaching, achieved results, and general feelings about each topic. The program is highly appreciated by students and meets the needs and expectations of the Province. Dr. Dinh Cong Khai affirmed “UEH leaders and lecturers are always ready to coordinate with a proactive, positive, and effective spirit in research, consulting, training, and fostering for the officials at all levels of Kien Giang province. ”

Speaking at the closing of the program, Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH - shared: "To organize the training course according to the request of Kien Giang Province, UEH conducted in-depth interviews with leaders of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee and 13 Departments/Divisions/Sevices to identify barriers of the Province and build a unique training program with 9 topics to update knowledge on competitiveness and sustainable development for Kien Giang province in the context of global economic integration. At the same time, UEH also listens to students' feedback to improve the training quality of the course. The results achieved by the training course are also based on the attention, support, and facilitation of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee and the Kien Giang Provincial School of Politics, Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh, on behalf of UEH leaders, sent his deep thanks to the units. At the Closing Ceremony, Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh was pleased to share information regarding the transformation of the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City according to Decision No. 1146/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. Accordingly, UEH officially became one of the seven higher education institutions in Vietnam operating under the "Multi-disciplinary" model, consistent and integrated with the system of advanced universities worldwide. This is a development step from endogenous capacity accumulated over nearly 50 years of establishment, following practical requirements in Vietnam and the development trend of universities in the world. ”

Recognizing the students' efforts to study and successfully complete the training course, on behalf of the program organizers, Dr. Nguyen Kim Duc - Deputy Director of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting - announced the decision to complete and issue certificates to students.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, appreciating the results of UEH's training course, the representative of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee remarked: " Kien Giang Province always focuses on organizing training for leaders and managers and considers this as one of the important steps to promote competitiveness and sustainable development for localities in the Mekong Delta region. University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has been very proactive in surveying, developing program content, and coordinating with lecturers who are leading experts in the field so that the training class can take place successfully. UEH also designed the class not only to include lectures but also to have discussion spaces; therefore, lecturers and students can work together to clarify and solve problems in each field. The Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee also expressed the desire for the students to continue to flexibly and creatively apply the knowledge acquired in each working position to promote the potential of the field and the locality. At the same time, after the training course, students must always identify self-research and self-development as tasks that need to be performed continuously to improve their qualifications and leadership skills, responding well to the needs and goals set in the new era. ”

The Fostering Program for Leaders and Managers Having Skills to Work in International Environments in Kien Giang in 2023-2024 was specifically designed by UEH with 9 topics, taking place from December 21, 2023 to January 20, 2024 (1^st Class) and from December 28, 2023 to January 27, 2024 (2^nd Class) with content associated with the practice of Kien Giang province aimed at improving planning and management capacity of development policies for leaders and managers to meet sustainable development leadership requirements for Kien Giang province in 2021-2026 and preparing leadership and management personnel for the upcoming term. The program also provides opportunities to connect and share experiences in the field with leading industry experts who are lecturers with practical experience; concurrently, listens to students' feedback to improve the training quality of the course.
