Talk show “How DEIA Fits Into the Vietnamese Context and the Role of DEIA in Leadership” - Chances for UEH students to learn about current trends in the workplace’s environment

DEIA—Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility refer to a set of practices aimed at ensuring labour from different socio-demographic backgrounds can integrate and develop together in a working environment. Reports from HR Forecast, Human Resources Today, Deloitte, and Harvard Business Review all say that DEIA is a human resource trend for businesses to develop sustainably in the current context.

In the opening speech, Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao - Deputy Head of the Department of Scientific Management - International Cooperation stated: “Leadership plays an important role in driving positive changes. Good leaders possess the vision, empathy, and courage to champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. They inspire others to be agents of change and foster a culture of respect, understanding, and collaboration. Through this event, we aim to explore the qualities of inclusive leadership and empower individuals to become a positive version of their respective influence.”

The presenters were Mr. Hunter Zhao, Consular Officer, NIV Section and the Co-Chair of the DEIA Board at the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, and Ms. Thao Truong, Travel Supervisor cum Co-Chair of the DEIA Board.

This event welcomed more than 100 students. They enthusiastically participated in the discussion and so many intelligent questions were raised to the presenters.

Discussion at the Talks

This event successfully spread knowledge of DEIA to UEH students and contributed to the UEH strategies for sustainable development. It also opened up opportunities for cooperation between the UEH and the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City in the future.
