The hallmark of the 32-year journey "always towards UEH" by Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - An exemplary teacher, a dedicated scientist, a wholehearted manager who has accompanied the development of UEH over the past 32 years. Having experienced many different positions, but he is always very committed to the development of the university. The UEH faculty members always take pride in, respect and express their gratitude to the dedication of Prof.Dr. Hoai throughout the past journey.

On the afternoon of May 6, 2021, at Room A103 (Campus A - Nguyen Dinh Chieu), the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held a farewell meeting with Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai for his resignation from the position of Vice President. It is an opportunity to look back his dedication to the development of UEH over the journey of more than 32 years.

Attending the program, there were Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - University Council President, Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai – Vice President, Dr. Bui Quang Hung – Vice President, Dr. Bui Quang Viet - President of the College Trade Union together with the Teachers who are the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Youth Union, Chairman of the Student Union and leaders of the university units.

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai obtained his Doctorate in 2001 at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2006 and Professor in 2015. His area of expertise is Economics, majoring in Development Economics.

Accompany with the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City since 1988, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai has undergone many different tasks, from lecturers to School leaders (10 years - Head of School of Development Economics) and University Leaders (Vice President for the period 2011-2021, Vice President in charge (August 18, 2020 - September 15, 2021). In 2021, he was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies (JABES). Besides, he was also a member of the Foundation of Professors 2016 - 2020 (UEH) and a member of the Professor's Council of Economics in 2019 and 2020.

He dedicated himself to the development of UEH in particular and the education of our country in general with 2 National projects, 8 Ministerial and equivalent projects, 9 monographs and 2 textbooks, 9 articles published in scientific international journals, 83 scientific papers published in the domestic journals; guided 5 Fellows; won the title of Excellent Teacher in 2021, received Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister and 06 times received Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training; 17 years of winning the title of Emulation Soldier, of which 03 years named Emulation Soldier at ministerial level.

In particular, last May 2021, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai officially participated in the Editorial Board of the international Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Administration in the Scopus list (Q2). This contributes to improving the academic reputation of UEH in particular and Vietnam in general in the world scientific community.

Since becoming Vice President, he has made many outstanding contributions to the University's scientific research and international cooperation activities to achieve many proud results. Outstanding is the achievement of "Excellent Labor Collective" continuously from 2012 to 2020 and Emulation Flag of the Ministry of Education and Training. Regarding scientific research, UEH publishednumber of international articles in ISI/SCOPUS, leading the group of UniversityinSocial Sciences field in Vietnam, in the Top 1000 best business universities in the world (since 2008), Top 25 leading universities in the world in the field of knowledge transfer (According to U-Multirank for 5 consecutive years from 2016 to 2020), Top 11 universities in Vietnam on Webometrics ranking (2021), the first and only university in the field of economics in Vietnam in the QS Asia Ranking 2021.

Not only professional tasks, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai always upholds the sense of responsibility, enthusiasm, listening, caring and helping generations of students and colleagues. He always focuses on creating opportunities for young teachers and colleagues to hone their research, teaching and management capabilities. Thereby, it has left a good impression on the hearts of associates working with and in contact with him. Nearly 50 units belonging the university attended the meeting and gave flowers and gifts; sended the gratitude feelings and best wishes to Him.

At the ceremony, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai emotionally shared: "The results I have achieved today are due to the great conditions and companionship of the university leaders, teachers and colleagues". He also advised future leaders to strive together for the common development goal, always towards UEH. In the coming time, he and his associates of the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies will make every effort to put JABES in the list of Scopus-qualified journals in the shortest time. He hopes the Journal will continue to receive many quality articles from teachers.

The continuous journey of Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai is a journey to spread knowledge, with a new position and new goals: to bring the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies to the list of Scopus soon. With all our respect and gratitude, all of UEH-ers sincerely thank Mr. Hoai for always dedicating your best to UEH. Thank Him for always caring and helping the generations of students and colleagues around. We wish Him all the best on the new journey with lots of health, fortune, happiness and success in life.
