UEH Achievements in Scientific Research - International Cooperation

The year 2021 marks the 45-year journey of construction and development of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City University (UEH) with our restructuring strategy, forming a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University. With the determination to realize the goal for common development, all UEH teachers, officials, employees and students have been constantly innovating and creative, especially strengthening scientific research and international cooperation and achieving diverse meaningful achievements, effectively contributing to the process of construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City and of the whole country.

Immersed in the Vietnamese transformation of the country in the ‘đổi mới (renovation)’ period, from the first years of our establishment, UEH has implemented strong strides in scientific research activities in both breadth and depth, initially meeting the urgent practical requirements of the national renewal process. Being promoted by what has been achieved, the strategy of promoting academic research published internationally through research funds and updating innovative policies continues to be strongly implemented by UEH. In particular, these policies have been effective in recent times when UEH is continuously the mono-disciplinary university in the economic sector in Vietnam with the highest number of ISI publications. The number of ISI international publications on Web of Science database has increased over the years as follows: in 2017 (45 articles); in 2018 (65 articles); in 2019 (85 articles) and in 2020 (270 articles). In accordance with Scopus database, UEH achieved an encouraging growth in the number of international publications as follows: in 2017 (47 articles), in 2018 (57 articles), in 2019 (98 articles), in 2020 (349 articles). In 2021, UEH achieved more than 500 ISI/Scopus articles and continued to hold the Number 1 position among mono-disciplinary universities in Vietnam in the fields of economics, business and law with the best international publications.

Generally speaking, scientific research activities have resulted in important contributions during UEH 45-year journey of establishment and development as well as UEH achieve remarkable achievements in research, consulting and knowledge transfer through the recognition of the national and international scientific community. An honor for UEH in 2021 is that the English version of JABES magazine has been officially recognized in the list of Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and is the first Journal of Vietnamese Economic Sector ever acknowledged into ESCI under the Web of Science System.

Along with the research results, the year 2021 also witnessed impressive marks in educational internationalization and international cooperation.

Up to the present time, UEH has been running 24 joint training programs at Bachelor, Master and Doctoral levels. Joint training programs are with Australia, UK, France, New Zealand, Netherlands, Finland, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Ireland and so on. UEH has cooperated with 128 prestigious educational institutions and organizations in different regions/countries in all continents. For training programs under Bilateral Agreement, UEH University has been recognized as one prestigious university training institution in Vietnam and reliable training address towards teams of entrepreneurs and economic managers for Lao’s People Democratic Republic and the Kingdom of Cambodia.

UEH has signed and implemented joint scientific research programs and projects listed as: “Green Marketing” with Taiwan, “Higher education” with Australia, “University management quality measurement” with Germany, “UK-Vietnam Higher Education” Partnership Initiative” with the UK, “Eramus” Project and so on.

In addition, UEH has sent staff and lecturers abroad for training, working, short-term training, attending international conferences/ seminars/ academic exchanges/ study tours of management experiences/ corporation-seeking surveys; sending students for long-term, short-term study training, internship and cultural exchange abroad. International students from partner schools come to study long-term and short-term at UEH. On the other hand, UEH also receives experts, lecturers, researchers, international students to work, research and study at UEH.

In addition to the above activities, in 2021, UEH organized 22 international conferences, scientific seminars and seminars on thematic reports on the fields of economy, administration, commerce, finance, accounting mathematics, marketing for interested lecturers and students. These activities are to share and update economic, political and cultural knowledge to promote integration with advanced science in the world. Concurrently, UEH actively receives and implements international funded projects and advanced technology transfer programs from abroad for training and scientific research purposes.

With our best efforts in scientific research activities and international cooperation, UEH has imprinted our mark on the world education market with proud achievements: Being the 1^st and unique Vietnamese university in economics in Top 551+ of QS Asia Rankings 2022 (QS Asia University Rankings 2022); Being the Leading university in Vietnam and in the Top 1000 best business schools in the world, Top 100 best Master's schools in the world in accordance with Eduniversal's ranking; For 05 consecutive years (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020), being among the Top 25 universities in the world in terms of Knowledge Transfer field in accordance with “Contribution to lifelong career development” standard (Based on U-Multirank Ranking). In addition, UEH is ranked at 9^th position in Vietnam on Webometrics rankings and ranked 1^st position among universities in Vietnam in the fields of economics, management, business and law as well as 376^th place in the international ranking of research institutions (SCImago) in Asia.

UEH current initial successes are important assets that UEH has been striving to achieve. In order to maintain our pioneering position and to be recognized in the world education market, UEH continues to set and implement specific development goals: being dynamic and sensitive in choosing priority development directions, being innovative towards a pioneering model - the model of a public university with economic goals integrated with the goal of developing scientific knowledge - towards creating an essential resonance value bringing practicality and efficiency for society. Overcoming UEH 45-year milestone of construction and development, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has entered a new stage of development with new opportunities and challenges, with the hope that these traditional values and core values will continue to be respected, preserved, promoted and raised to a new level.
