UEH Develops Off-Campus Teaching Programs - At Local Schools and in The Community

With a pioneering role in bringing knowledge to the community, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has been actively implementing off-campus education programs. These efforts aim to support UEH students, pupils, teachers and partners at local schools and the community with the necessary knowledge and skills in the new era to implement the strategy of no one being left behind.

UEH Global - The journey of transferring knowledge to the community

UEH Global is one of the projects that UEH has been implementing to realize that responsibility. After more than 3 years of implementation, the project has gone through 3 phases. The first is to support infrastructure, technology, and methods so that teachers and students in the Mekong Delta can participate in online teaching and learning on the platform that UEH has built, and successfully overcome the pandemic while still maintain the quality of training. In the second phase, UEH Global provides the teaching community with experiences with methods and tools for preparing lesson plans and electronic lectures, actively supporting schools in implementing the goal of digital transformation in education. Through the second phase, UEH has issued more than 2,500 certificates of course completion. Up to now, UEH Global has accompanied high school teachers and students in the Mekong Delta in starting up and innovating with the STEM training program. The first program in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long province has attracted a large number of teachers of Physics, Information Technology and students in general education classes. This is a positive signal and motivation for UEH Global to continue to deploy to all provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region.

Prominently, the UEH Global project "STEM Teaching" was organized on March 18, 2023 by University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long province exclusively for high school teachers and students in Vinh Long province. The program aims to provide knowledge, skills and equipment to support the implementation of career and scientific research orientation for students, improve the professional skills of teachers, and at the same time, select potential projects applying robotics technology and artificial intelligence for development, connection and incubation at UEH's Mekong Startup Incubator. After that, this activity continued to be expanded with the next STEM teaching series for high schools in Khanh Hoa province in May 2023 with products combining multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge and organizing the UEH Robocon Competition 2023, leaving many unforgettable impressions.

UEH College of Economics, Law and Government organizes Community Connection - Practical Thinking programs

With the policy of promoting cooperation with localities, linking scientific knowledge with practical issues and creating favorable conditions to support academic activities to share experiences and scientific achievements in the field of government; every year, the School of Government, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) organizes practical courses for students within the framework of cooperation between the School and localities with the Community Connection - Practical Thinking program.

In early 2023, students of the School of Government, UEH College of Economics, Law and Government (CELG) participated in a field trip at the People's Committee of Thua Duc Commune, Ben Tre Province - based on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between CELG and the Center for Technology Transfer of Services and Community Development of Agriculture and Fisheries in Vietnam (FACOD-VIETNAM).

In the same year of 2023, the School of Government (SOG), UEH College of Economics, Law and Government (CELG) coordinated with localities and businesses to encourage students majoring in public management to participate in practical learning activities in the locality. They would have the opportunity to work on projects and solve real-life problems, practice solid expertise, proficient soft skills, creativity, self-study ability, and flexible problem-solving skills to be able to commit and quickly adapt to the changes of society in the digital age. They visited the production process at the Agricultural Hi-tech Park of Ho Chi Minh City (AHTP) and the Israel High-Tech Dairy Farm and Demonstration Farm.

Field trips are an opportunity for students to gain more understanding of the production of businesses, localities and the orientations for agricultural development in Vietnam in the near future. Through this, students can also apply the knowledge they have acquired into practice and contribute to the development of not only agriculture but also the community and society.

Accompanying partners, transferring knowledge to a large number of students and learners across the country

For a long time, UEH has implemented numerous programs to connect resources, create an exchange environment, and academic playgrounds for students and learners across the country to learn and develop themselves such as Mekong Summer Camp 2023 and the UEH Biztech Hackathon 2023. The "UEH SUMMER CAMP 2023" started from June 26, 2023 to July 25, 2023 with the theme "Global mind, local life" to provide exchange opportunities for high school students to participate in practical activities in Vinh Long province, helping them fully absorb the 3 goals of the program, which include knowledge education, simulation practice and skill training.

Not only universities, UEH also accompanies localities and businesses in improving professional capacity for human resources through training courses. On August 11, 2023, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) in coordination with Khanh Hoa Provincial Inspectorate organized the Khanh Hoa Provincial Inspectorate Professional Training Course 2023. The professional training course is organized to improve professional knowledge, experience, and skills in detecting violations in the fields of inspection with specific requirements that must closely follow the practical inspection activities, must have exchanges with trainees about some specific situations and inspection lessons. Through the program, with its strengths in training, especially for high-quality human resources; UEH expressed its willingness to accompany partners and localities to improve the organization's professional capacity.

Volunteer programs bringing knowledge to disadvantaged regions

In the Economic Student Volunteer Campaign 2023, UEH also launched free classes, where students volunteered to teach children in remote areas in Mang Thit district, Vinh Long province. This is an opportunity for children in difficult circumstances to access knowledge, learn soft skills, and be more confident in life. To date, UEH has awarded 115 scholarships, organized more than 50 classes for children in 7 communes, and many interesting summer activities.

With its tireless efforts, UEH is opening up learning and skill training opportunities for not only students but also the community, helping them to be more confident and ready to contribute to the development of society. The off-campus programs that UEH is developing have met the need for knowledge and are a journey to bring love and hope to every corner of the country.
