UEH Visiting and working at University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Macau, China

Last May, the delegation of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) made an important visit to University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Macau, China. Discussing the cooperation programs between UEH and USJ, the two parties shared views and ideas regarding how to maximize the potential of the two universities in improving the quality of education and research.

Leading the UEH delegation on a visit to University of Saint Joseph (USJ) were Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Deputy Director of UEH; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Trinh Thuy Anh - Vice Principal of UEH College of Technology and Design; Dr. Trinh Tu Anh - Director of the Institute of Smart Cities and Management; and lecturers from the School of Media Design.

Dr. Dinh Cong Khai, representing UEH, introduced expected cooperation plans for the 2024-2025 academic year. He highlighted the benefits of this cooperation, which are not only for students and lecturers of the two schools but also for the entire international academic community. He also praised the strong development potential, modern facilities and excellent scientific research quality at University of Saint Joseph, and emphasized that these were important factors that helped improve the quality of education and research of both parties.

Representing University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, Vice President, expressed his enthusiasm and commitment to supporting the upcoming collaborative events. He emphasized that USJ has always been willing to welcome and cooperate with international partners to develop together. Expected cooperation activities between the two schools included implementing a dual degree program with the School of Media Design, organizing academic tours and student exchanges, and organizing the RTD conference (Resilience on Technology and Design), the ArtTech Fusion 2024 series, and acknowledging UEH as a co-organizer of the Artech Conference held in Vietnam each year.

During this visit, a student delegation from UEH including 14 students participated in an exchange course from May 2 to 9, 2024 in Macau with the theme "SUSTAINABILITY AND THE CITY". Throughout the course, the students had the opportunity to have lively discussions and interactive activities, and to share knowledge and ideas so as to promote sustainable practices and to solve problems in Macau. Renowned researchers in the field have provided valuable insights and established the basis for thought-provoking debates.

University of Saint Joseph (USJ) is one of the oldest private Universities in Macau with a history dating back to 1911. USJ has obtained many outstanding achievements in the fields of education and research, being recognized in the Top 500 of the Times Higher Education rankings in which USJ's Digital communication has been ranked TOP 10 in Asia. This can be identified as a symbol of cultural interference and rich history. With existing achievements and potential, USJ plays an important role in promoting international cooperation and developing global education. Thanks to this visit, UEH hopes to strengthen cooperation in global educational development, opening future extensive cooperation in education and research between the two universities.
