Accreditation of four programs under FIBAA standards at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH)

Continuing the quality assurance and program accreditation process at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), on September 10 and 11, 2025, UEH collaborated with the international higher education quality assurance organization FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) to conduct accreditation of four academic programs under FIBAA standards at UEH. The programs assessed include Bachelor of Finance – Banking – Finance program, Bachelor of Finance – Banking – Banking program, Bachelor of Finance – Banking – Public Finance program, and Bachelor of Investment Economics.

The FIBAA expert panel included Ms. Lisa Lubomierski (FIBAA Project Manager); university professors Prof. Dr. Natalie Aleksandra Gurvits-Suits (School for Business and Governance, Tallinn University, Germany), Prof. Dr. Victor Randall (Hochschule Coburg, Germany), Dr. Zamzagul Sultanova (Zhangir Khan West Kazakhstan Agrarian-Technical University, Kazakhstan), Dr. Nguyen Chi Thang (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam); practitioner expert Dr. Olaf Neitzsch (Dr. Olaf Neitzsch Consulting, Germany); and student representative Jacob Krüger (University of Bayreuth, Germany).

Representing UEH were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao – Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the University Council; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – Vice President; the leadership of member Colleges; heads of academic Schools; Program Directors and relevant faculty; representatives of functional Boards and Departments, the Youth Union; together with alumni and current students of the assessed programs.

At the opening session, Ms. Lisa Lubomierski (FIBAA Project Manager) expressed her delight in working at UEH. She noted that UEH’s process of program-level and institutional accreditation under FIBAA standards has been progressing very well. FIBAA will continue to cooperate with and support UEH in the coming years to enhance UEH’s higher education quality in line with European standards.

During the working sessions, the FIBAA expert panel conducted in-depth interviews, exchanges, and discussions with stakeholders: Program Directors, key teaching faculty, representatives of functional Boards and Departments, the Youth Union, as well as alumni and students of the programs, to clarify, analyze, and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each program. In addition, the panel surveyed and highly evaluated UEH’s facilities, which effectively meet requirements for training, research, and community service.

At the closing session, FIBAA experts provided a preliminary summary of the accreditation results and highly commended the tireless efforts of all UEH staff and faculty. These efforts have helped maintain and continuously enhance program quality, affirming UEH’s pioneering position in the fields of economics, management, and governance in Vietnam.

Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – President of UEH – extended sincere thanks and appreciated FIBAA’s contributions to UEH in implementing international standards for higher education quality assurance. He affirmed that the results of this accreditation will provide a solid foundation for UEH to continuously improve and refine the development, governance, and operation of its academic programs to ensure they consistently meet international standards. UEH’s goal is to continuously elevate overall educational quality, moving toward becoming a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University in the coming period.
