[UEH 50 Global Partners] UEH Signs Cooperation Agreement with Vietnam GS Industry Co., Ltd. to Promote Research and Application of Smart Urban Solutions

On May 25, 2026, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and Vietnam GS Industry Co., Ltd. (VGSI) took place at UEH Campus A. The event marked a strategic direction for collaboration between the university and the enterprise in research, training, innovation, and the application of smart urban solutions, contributing to the promotion of sustainable urban development in Vietnam.

Attending the program, from UEH, were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - UEH President; Dr. Thai Kim Phung - Acting Deputy Head of the Department of Communications and Partnerships; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Tu Anh - Director of the Institute of Smart Cities and Management, UEH School of Technology and Design (CTD-UEH); M.A. Phan Ngoc Anh - Deputy Head of the Department of Communications and Partnerships; M.A. Dao Minh Huyen - Chief of Office of CTD-UEH.

From GS Engineering & Construction Corporation (GS E&C) and Vietnam GS Industry Co., Ltd. (VGSI), attendees included: Mr. Huh Jin Hong - Executive Vice President of GS E&C, concurrently Chairman of VGSI; Mr. Lee Hang Jun - General Director of VGSI; Mr. Kwon Oh Sang - Head of Business Development Division, VGSI; Ms. Ngo Pham Thuc Uyen - Senior Manager of Project Development, VGSI.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung emphasized UEH's orientation towards expanding cooperation with enterprises, linking academic research with practical application, and addressing issues of urban development, innovation, and sustainability. UEH highly values the cooperation potential with VGSI and expects that both sides will jointly promote research, training, and practical experience activities in the field of smart cities in Vietnam.

On behalf of VGSI, Mr. Huh Jin Hong - Executive Vice President of GS E&C, Chairman of VGSI, expressed his expectations for the strategic cooperative relationship between the two units in the coming time. VGSI wishes to accompany UEH in connecting academic knowledge with projects and practical needs, contributing to human resource development, and promoting the application of technology and modern urban management models.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding, UEH and VGSI will implement cooperation across 03 main areas:

- Research and application of smart urban solutions: collaborating on the localization of data governance; piloting smart urban models and technologies at the Nha Be Innovation Hub and other VGSI projects; implementing long-term research on smart urban orientations in alignment with the Master Plan of Ho Chi Minh City and national urban development strategies.

- Practice-oriented training collaboration: implementing professional internship programs, corporate site visits, and practical experience at VGSI projects in the fields of urban planning and landscape design.

- Startup, innovation and community connection: connecting startups, technology enterprises, and regulatory bodies to promote the innovation community in the fields of property technology (Prop-tech) and smart urban management; co-organizing seminars, forums, and specialized events; sharing knowledge through advisory activities and guest lectures.

The MOU Signing Ceremony between UEH and VGSI marks a milestone in expanding the connection between the university and enterprises in training, research, and innovation. Through this cooperation, UEH continues to promote its role as a university in connecting knowledge with practice, contributing to the process of smart and sustainable urban development in Vietnam.
