Accreditation of Three Training Programs According to FIBAA Standards at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City

As part of its ongoing commitment to quality assurance and program accreditation, from August 26-28, 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), in collaboration with the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), conducted an online accreditation for three of its training programs according to FIBAA standards. The programs undergoing accreditation in this second phase of 2025 were the Bachelor of Risk Analysis and Actuarial Science, the Bachelor of Management Information Systems, and the Bachelor of Financial Mathematics.

The FIBAA expert panel included Ms. Maya Köhler (FIBAA Project Manager); university professors: Prof. Dr. Thomas Burkhardt (University of Koblenz, Germany), Prof. Dr. Horst Peters (Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, Germany), and Prof. Dr. Eric Schoop (TU Dresden, Germany); a representative from a Vietnamese university: Dr. Ngo Trung (Van Lang University, Vietnam); a professional from the industry: Dr. Kathleen Ehrlich (Munich Re, Germany); and a student representative: Dennis Boelcke (Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg, Germany).

Representing UEH were Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of the University; the Boards of Management of the member colleges; the leadership of the respective faculties; program directors and relevant lecturers; representatives from administrative departments; as well as students and alumni from the accredited programs.

During the opening session, Ms. Maya Köhler (FIBAA Project Manager) noted the strong and effective collaboration between UEH and FIBAA in the accreditation process at both the program and institutional levels. She acknowledged that UEH has successfully completed institutional-level accreditation as well as accreditation for numerous training programs with FIBAA and continues to make significant improvements in university governance and program development based on FIBAA's recommendations. She affirmed that FIBAA will continue to partner with and support UEH in the coming years to enhance the quality of its higher education in line with European standards.

During the assessment days, the FIBAA expert panel conducted interviews and held discussions with all relevant stakeholders, including the leadership of the faculties, program directors, relevant lecturers, representatives from administrative departments, and students and alumni of the programs. These sessions aimed to clarify, analyze, and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each program.

At the closing session, the FIBAA experts provided a preliminary summary of their assessment of the training programs based on five key standards: 1) Program Objectives, 2) Admissions Requirements, 3) Content, Structure, and Pedagogical Methods, 4) Academic Environment, and 5) Quality Assurance. They highly commended the efforts of all UEH administrative staff and faculty in ensuring the quality of the training programs, thereby maintaining UEH's leading position in the fields of economics, business, and management in Vietnam.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH, delivered a speech thanking FIBAA for its partnership in conducting higher education quality accreditation at UEH according to international standards.

The results of this accreditation serve as a foundation for UEH to continuously improve the development, governance, and operation of its training programs in line with international standards. This commitment aims to enhance the overall quality of education at UEH and its specific programs, in pursuit of the goal of becoming a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University in the coming period.
