Seminar SRS 2024 session 2 with the theme: “Sustainable Finance and Innovation Strategies: Best Practices in Southeast Asia”

On September 12, 2024, the School of Banking, College of Business, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City organized a research seminar with the theme "Sustainable Finance and Innovation Strategies: Best Practices in Southeast Asia" at Room B1.204. This is a seminar in the 2024 Research Seminar Series of the School of Banking (SOB's Research Seminar - SRS 2024) to create a forum for exchanging and learning experiences in scientific research and international publication.

The speaker is Prof. Dr. Yudi Azis, S.E., M.T., Ph.D., Head of Doctoral Program in Management Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Business, UNPAD, Indonesia

The author's presentation discusses innovation, competitive advantage, sustainable finance and the changing landscape of jobs and skills, with a focus on Southeast Asia. The presentation focuses on several key topics as follows.

Sustainable finance: essentially, sustainable finance is finance that integrates environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks into decision-making processes. In fact, Southeast Asia has seen a shift in capital flows to sectors that support sustainable development goals and combat climate change.
Innovation and Sustainability-Oriented Innovation (SOI): the presentation highlighted how corporate sustainability strategies can lead to inclusive innovation. The speaker summarized and discussed the impact of internal and external factors on the innovation process and noted the factors that contribute to the failure of organizations such as lack of leadership, short-term thinking and lack of resources.
Six Sigma and Innovation: The speaker introduced Six Sigma as an innovation approach, highlighted the DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Implement-Control) and DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) methodologies and concluded that the Six Sigma innovation logic model shows the cause-and-effect relationship between factors such as management commitment, training effectiveness and employee motivation, which ultimately affect financial returns and customer satisfaction.

One of the highlights of the seminar was the lively exchange between the speaker and the attendees. Questions were raised around the Changing Job and Skills Landscape, discussing the changing job and skill requirements due to innovation and the development of sustainable finance, especially in the Southeast Asian context. The sincere and passionate answers of the speakers concluded the second research seminar in the SRS 2024 Seminar Series of the School of Banking, College of Business, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City.
