[UEH 50 Global Partners] UEH Promotes Cooperation with Worms University of Applied Sciences, Germany

25 Jun, 2026

On June 22, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held a bilateral working session with Worms University of Applied Sciences (WUAS, Germany), opening up numerous prospects for cooperation in training, lecturer and student exchange, international internships, and scientific research, particularly in the fields of Tourism/Travel Management and Aviation Management.

Attending the working session, on the WUAS side, were Prof. Dr. Hans Rueck - Vice President of WUAS; Prof. Dr. Tobias Ehlen - Dean of the Faculty of Tourism/Travel Management; Prof. Dr. Frank Fichert - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Tourism/Travel Management; Prof. Dr. Knut Scherhag - Program Director of the Faculty of Tourism/Travel Management; Prof. Dr. Richard Klophaus - Program Director of Aviation Management and Air Traffic Management; Ms. Pia Orth-Reich - Exchange Coordinator of the Faculty; and M.A. An Vo - Specialist of the Faculty of Tourism/Travel Management.

On the UEH side, attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - UEH President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Tu Anh - Director of the Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM); M.A. Dang The Hien - Program Director of the Bachelor of Architecture - Smart Urban Architecture and Design (BAUD-KTS); and M.A. Le Phan Truong An - Researcher at ISCM.

Expanding cooperation space in training and research

At the working session, the WUAS representatives provided an overview of their university, emphasizing the strengths of the Faculty of Tourism/Travel Management - one of the oldest and most prestigious tourism training programs in Germany. Representing UEH, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Tu Anh shared UEH's development orientation, advanced training programs, and ongoing projects at UEH -5.

Highly appreciating the cooperation potential between the two universities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung noted that UEH and WUAS share many commonalities in training, research, and internationalization orientation. This serves as an important foundation for both sides to gradually develop practical cooperation activities in the coming period.

Promoting student exchange through international internship model

During the discussion session, the two sides exchanged views on specific cooperation methods such as course development, lecturer exchange, implementation of Dual Degree programs, student exchange, and international internship connections.

Notably, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung proposed a student exchange model through the International Internship Exchange program. Accordingly, UEH students could undertake internships in Germany at WUAS's partner enterprises, while WUAS students would have the opportunity to come to Vietnam for internships at UEH's partner enterprises. This model is expected to help students from both sides enhance practical experience and expand their adaptability in international academic and professional environments.

Academic connection, towards Dual Degree Programs

To promote research cooperation, UEH and WUAS agreed to initially share catalogs of scientific publications, articles, and research directions of lecturers and researchers from both sides. This will serve as a basis for identifying areas of mutual interest, thereby developing joint research topics and international publications in the future -5.

The two sides also established Points of Contact (POCs) to continue exchanges and prepare for the roadmap to implement Dual Degree programs in the coming period. The working session concluded with numerous potential cooperation orientations, contributing to promoting the internationalization of UEH's training and research activities, while expanding academic connections between UEH and higher education partners in Germany.
