University Day Series: Meeting of retired lecturers to celebrate 41 years of Vietnamese Teachers' Day and welcoming the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH University

On November 16, 2023, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) organized a meeting for retired lecturers to celebrate the 41^st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2023). This was a meaningful traditional activity of "tôn sư trọng đạo" held every year by UEH, this year, which was even more special when generations came together to celebrate the new journey of UEH - Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University.

Joining the welcoming atmosphere of the whole country, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City organized a meeting to celebrate the 41^st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day to congratulate and to express deep gratitude to the lecturers who have made important contributions to the cause of growing people under the roof of UEH. This year's Vietnamese Teachers' Day meeting on November 20 is associated with the joy and pride of the UEH family when welcoming a major event, the upcoming "Ceremony to Announce the Decision of the Prime Minister on the Transformation of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City" on November 18, 2023. With this meaning, this year's Meeting for retired lecturers is an opportunity for UEH to express gratitude to the previous generations who have worked hard to cultivate and to create a solid foundation for the outstanding development of UEH today.

Attending the meeting, on behalf of UEH, there was the presence of: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of UEH University Council; Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Director of UEH University; Associate Professor, PhD. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the Strategic and Policy Advisory Council of UEH University; Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of UEH University; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Deputy Director of UEH University; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Deputy Director of UEH University and Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy - Chairman of UEH Union.

On the side of Former UEH Leaders, there was the presence of Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Nang - Former Secretary of the Party Committee, Former President of UEH; Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Van Tai - Former Vice President of UEH; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Te - Former Party Secretary, Former Chairman of the Council, Former Vice President of UEH; Dr. Tran The Hoang - Former Chairman of the Council, Former Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Former Vice President of UEH; with lecturers and UEH retired officials.

Overview of the meeting

Congratulating and acknowledging the lecturers and retired officials, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Director of UEH University - shared: "UEH solemnly organized a meeting to celebrate the 41^st anniversary of Vietnam Teachers' Day to congratulate and to express deep gratitude to the lecturers, who are has been making important contributions to the cause of cultivating people under the roof of UEH. A journey of nearly 48 years of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City is a long journey, going through many difficulties and challenges besides obtaining many great achievements recognized by the Government and the community. The results of the recent journey are the crystallization of the wisdom, efforts, solidarity and love of all leaders, lecturers, officials, employees, staff, students and learners through various periods. The support of UEH's partners domestically and internationally along with the values summarized over time. On behalf of the UEH leadership team, I would like to send my deep gratitude to generations of former UEH leaders, lecturers of many generations, alumni and students who have contributed a lot of enthusiasm, effort, and intelligence to perfect UEH today and hope that lecturers will continue to support and accompany UEH on the path of future development."

Representing UEH lecturers and retired officials, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Nang - Former Party Secretary, Former President of UEH congratulated the impressive results and achievements that UEH has achieved over the past 48 years. UEH is considered one of the leading universities and is one of the leading universities in the world. UEH University is a leader in the fields of management, economics, and business in Vietnam having a position in prestigious university rankings in the world. He thanked UEH Leaders for their care about retired lecturers. At the same time, he sent good wishes for the development of UEH and firmly believed that UEH would continue to reap many new achievements and new miracles, steadily stepping up to regional level and international integration in the upcoming journey.

On the occasion of the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy - Chairman of UEH Union - shared some information about the 16^th Union Meeting (2023-2028), information on retired lecturers in recent years and UEH activities for retired teachers, such as organizing annual meetings for all retired lecturers, giving gifts on November 20 and Lunar New Year, and celebrating the International Day of the Elderly.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of excitement and warm affection between lecturers of all generations of UEH, along with emotional cultural exchange performances by participating lecturers to review meaningful memories under the roof of UEH. You can see the joy, excitement, emotion, and pride in each lecturer’s eyes when seeing the changes, progress, and impressive and comprehensive transformations of UEH in all aspects to officially become one of the 7 multi-disciplinary universities in Vietnam.

On the occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers' Day, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City would like to wish the retired lecturers to be healthy, happy and to continue to accompany the sustainable development of UEH in the future with a new stature of a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University.
