[Research Contribution] Enhancing the Intention to Use Home Composting Bins Amidst Climate Change Driven by Food Waste in HCMC

In the context of worsening climate change, food waste is a silent contributor to the exacerbation of greenhouse gas emissions. Ho Chi Minh City, with its high population density and rapid urbanization, is facing a large volume of inefficiently treated domestic waste, particularly organic waste. Therefore, according to a study by researchers from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), at-source waste treatment using home composting bins emerges as a critical solution to reduce carbon footprints, contribute to sustainable development goals, and shift consumer behavior towards environmental friendliness.

[Research Contribution] Earnings Management Affects Stock Prices of Listed Enterprises Through Financial Statement Disclosure Violations: An Empirical Study of the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Market During the Covid-19 Pandemic

In the context of Vietnam’s stock market growing steadily in both market capitalization and the number of listed enterprises, transparency and the quality of disclosed information have become paramount concerns. In particular, following the Covid-19 pandemic – a period during which the economy fell into recession and market sentiment became highly sensitive – numerous enterprises such as FLC, ITA, and SJF were delisted due to information disclosure violations and stock price manipulation. Against this backdrop, the research team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Xuan Thach (University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City – UEH) and Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Quy (Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade) conducted a large-scale empirical study covering 160 production and trading enterprises listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange during the 2019–2021 period. This is also the first empirical study in Vietnam to systematically investigate this relationship during a period in which the market was profoundly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

This was more than just a course; it was a journey to inspire the spirit of "Creative Teachers with Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence," aiming to build a teaching force that is adaptive, pioneering, and innovative in the digital era.

Within the framework of the working program in the Netherlands from October 13 to 18, 2025, a delegation from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – UEH Executive Vice President – conducted working sessions with key academic and research partners. These included the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) and the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM), both part of Erasmus University Rotterdam; Utrecht University; the Ocean Technology Company Pot Fishing Agency; the Catch Welfare Project; and the “Living Lab” model of the Blue Food Centre, located in the traditional fishing village of Wieringen.
